Renewal notice for a vehicle that's been sold

If you receive a license plate renewal notice for a vehicle you no longer own and do not wish to renew the license plates, you can disregard the renewal notice. By not renewing the license plates this year, you won't receive a notice for these plates next year.

If you have transferred the license plates to another vehicle and the plates were not renewed at the time of transfer, you may mail the renewal notice with the appropriate registration fee. The renewal fee will be applied to the correct vehicle.

  • Mail the renewal notice with the appropriate fee, or
  • Renew online - There is an additional $1 service charge for renewing online. You will need the renewal number (RRN) shown on your renewal notice.
    • If you haven't received your new vehicle title or registration, your license plates have not been transferred, and your RRN (product #) has not changed. Use the RRN (product #) found on your renewal notice to renew online.
    • If you have received your new vehicle registration, your license plates have been transferred. Use the RRN (product #) on your new registration when renewing online.

If you have questions:

Please do not send a second e-mail. If you e-mail us about a specific vehicle, we will need the license plate number or a vehicle identification number to respond to your inquiry.
