Wisconsin Highway Research Program

The Wisconsin Highway Research Program (WHRP) was established in 1998 to carry out materials and construction research to improve the performance and longevity of Wisconsin's highways.

A steering committee chaired by WisDOT Research Administrator Nikki Hatch and composed of representatives from WisDOT, Federal Highway Administration, academia and industry provides policy direction.

UW-Madison's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is contracted to administer WHRP under the leadership of Technical Director Hussain Bahia.

Research projects are selected annually under the direction of Technical Oversight Committees chaired by WisDOT engineers and composed of representatives from WisDOT, FHWA, academia and industry. Detailed information on completed and in-progress projects may be found at the links below.
