How can you apply?

Apply now by printing and filling out an application form and sending it to the Adopt-A-Highway Regional Coordinator responsible for the roadway you are interested in or call 1-800-242-2514 (8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday-Friday).

Leave your name, address and the county in which you wish to adopt a highway segment. We'll send an application/permit kit which fully explains the details of the program. Simply fill out the application/permit and mail it to the DOT Highway regional office for your county. Find the addresses and regional phone numbers on the Your Safety Comes First brochure or online on our contacts page.

The Adopt-A-Highway program is organized on a calendar year basis. Highway segments are assigned on a first-come first-serve basis. However, if all positions are filled, or if the amount of applications received exceeds our funding for signs and supplies, your group may be placed on a waiting list.

When we approve your application and return it to you, your group will have an assigned segment in the Adopt-A-Highway litter control program.

In addition to the permit to work on highway rights of way, you will receive further instructions and supplies.
