Governor Walker approves Mason Street Bridge improvements in Green Bay
August 27, 2014
Project starting Wednesday, September 3
As part of his efforts to create jobs and make sure Wisconsin is open for business, Governor Scott Walker approved $3.3 million to improve the Mason Street Bridge (WIS 54) in Green Bay, Brown County. Construction will begin Wednesday, September 3 and conclude in April 2015.
Lunda Construction, Black River Falls is the prime contractor.
Work includes installation of a new barrier gate system, updating existing lift bridge control, electrical system components and installing cameras to assist in lift bridge operations.
Traffic impacts include lane closures on Mason Street Bridge within project limits from September 3 through November 17 during both the daytime and overnight. Sidewalks along the Mason Street Bridge will also be closed for a portion of the work. In spring of 2015, equipment testing will occur for one week during the hours of 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday through Friday. Testing will require multiple openings/closings of the lift bridge. The bridge will also be closed to marine traffic during January and February 2015.
Motorists should use caution and remain alert when driving through this or any work zone.
