Public meeting set For US 45 reconstruction in Kenosha and Racine counties

Meeting to provide updated project information

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southeast Region in Waukesha is announcing a public involvement meeting to discuss the reconstruction of US 45 from WIS 50 in Bristol to WIS 11 in Union Grove. The meeting will consist of a brief presentation followed an informal open house and the project team will be available to answer questions and address concerns relating to the project. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning the project. The meeting details are as follows:

Where: Kenosha County Center, Hearing Room, 19600 75th Street, Bristol, WI 53104
When:Thursday, September 4, 4 to 6 p.m. (A brief presentation will be given at 4 p.m.)

The scope of work includes reconstructing eight miles of US 45 in Kenosha and Racine counties. This project will consist of addressing safe sight distances on hills and curves, bring intersections up to current WisDOT standards, widening shoulders, making slopes and ditches traversable, installing bypass lanes at T-intersections, upgrading traffic signals at WIS 50, evaluating a roundabout at WIS 142, providing sidewalks in urban areas, and improving drainage. Construction is tentatively scheduled for 2020.

Please note that the comments must be postmarked by September 18, 2014 in order to become part of the official record.

Citizens who are deaf or hard of hearing and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Janet Cannon at least three working days prior to the meeting.
