The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a construction information meeting to discuss ongoing improvements to the US 51/WIS 29 freeway. The meeting will provide important information about this year’s Wausau area construction zones and anticipated impacts to traffic.

The meeting is scheduled for:

Tuesday, February 27, 2007
5 to 7:30 p.m.
Three Rivers Theatre
The Plaza Hotel & Suites
201 North 17th Avenue
Wausau

A brief presentation is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. WisDOT, Marathon County and city of Wausau representatives will be available throughout the meeting to answer questions about the US 51/WIS 29 freeway and other Wausau area construction projects scheduled for 2007.

All citizens with concerns or questions regarding this year’s scheduled improvements are encouraged to attend the meeting.

During 2007, motorists will encounter orange barrels and traffic impacts in the following locations of the US 51/WIS 29 freeway:

  • Construction of northbound lanes between the Marathon County N interchange and WIS 52.
  • Ramp construction from southbound US 51 to westbound WIS 29 will require periodic lane closures on Stewart Avenue, 28th Avenue and WIS 52.
  • Construction of the new WIS 29 west freeway ramps will also require periodic lanes closures on 28th Avenue.
