WisDOT schedules I-39/Business 51 interchange information meeting in Portage County
August 24, 2007
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public information meeting to discuss the proposed construction of the I-39/Business 51 interchange from North Point Drive to I-39/US 51 in Portage County. Local officials, property owners and other parties interested are encouraged to attend.
The meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Portage County Annex Building in conference rooms 1 and 2, 1462 Strongs Avenue, Stevens Point. The purpose of the meeting is to present information to the public about the proposed improvements and to discuss the planned closures and detours.
The project is currently scheduled to start in late May 2008. Improvements for the bridge will involve closing the I-39 northbound exit and entrance ramps, from approximately May 27 to August 29, 2008. During the closures, traffic will be detoured via I-39, US 10, and Business 51. The I-39 southbound exit and entrance ramps will be closed for approximately three weeks during the same time period. Repainting work on the structure will be done under traffic through September.
Citizens who are hearing-impaired and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Eugene Werner at (715) 421-8395 at least three working days prior to the meeting via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay system (dialing 711).
