Traffic alert: Bridge at WIS 241 (27th Street) closed at the Milwaukee/Racine County Line

The WIS 241 (27th Street) bridge over the Root River is closed until further notice, announced the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT).  The I-94 eastbound off-ramp to 27th Street is closed as well.

Closing the bridge is a precautionary measure.  Water has risen to the bridge girders and WisDOT is watching the weather forecast closely. The closures will remain in effect until water recedes and crews can inspect the bridge to assess the situation.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and watch area message boards for information.
