I-43/94 project scheduled to start in Milwaukee County
September 5, 2007
Work is slated to begin in mid-September on a $290,000 project to enhance safety on I-43/94 in Milwaukee County, announced the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT).
The project will build a sign bridge and speed warning system over southbound I-43/94 (Plainfield Curve) between the Howard Avenue on and off ramps. “The system will display a ‘ too fast for curve’ warning to motorists traveling at speeds unsafe for the curve ahead,“ said Julie Jenks, project manager with WisDOT.
I-43/94 will remain open to through traffic during construction, however, single lane and shoulder closures will occur during off-peak travel times.
The contractor, Outdoor Lighting Construction Co Inc. is scheduled to complete the project by late December, weather permitting.
A combination of federal and state funds will pay for the project.
