Governor Doyle approves $1,332,750 for projects at Iowa County Airport

September 4, 2007

Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $1,332,750 project to reconstruct Runway 4/22 at the Iowa County Airport. The Governor’s action releases $33,318 in state funds to help complete the runway project. Iowa County is contributing another $33,320 and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $1,266,113.

According to Craig Butler, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project will replace the existing deteriorated runway surface and strengthen the runway to allow business aircraft a safe runway to use when the primary runway is not available.

The project is scheduled to begin in August and should be completed by December 2007.

The Iowa County Airport encompasses over 300 acres and includes two paved runways, connecting taxiways, aprons, parking lot, and terminal building.
