Governor Doyle approves $650,000 project at Clintonville Municipal Airport
September 4, 2007
Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $650,000 project to improve airfield pavements and begin work on a new runway instrument approach at the Clintonville Municipal Airport. The Governor’s action releases $16,250 to reconstruct the oldest section of apron and the connecting taxiway, which is over 30 years old and is in poor condition. Preliminary work for the new satellite-based instrument approach will also be completed.
The city of Clintonville is contributing another $16,250, with the Federal Aviation Administration providing $617,500.
According to Michael Gabor, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project will provide new pavements and will correct some drainage problems that exist around the large terminal area hangars at the airport. The surveying and clearing of obstructions, if any, will be completed in advance of FAA writing new GPS approaches to their primary runway.
The project is scheduled to be completed by November 2007.
Facilities at the Clintonville Municipal Airport include the 4,600-foot primary runway, the
3,300-foot secondary runway, and a 2,040-foot turf airstrip. There are some 40 aircraft based
at the airport and approximately 8,000 aircraft take-offs and landings occur eachyear.
