Public information meeting scheduled to update WIS 35 (between River Falls and Hudson) long-range freeway conversion plan

September 11, 2007

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public information meeting on Thursday, September 20, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Troy Town Hall, located at WIS 35 and Glover Road, to discuss conceptual plans to update the official map for the future freeway conversion of approximately three miles of WIS 35 between Radio Road and Coulee Trail.

WisDOT anticipates increasing traffic volumes and continued development along the WIS 35 corridor between River Falls and Hudson, which may eventually require improvements to WIS 35.

This public information meeting is an opportunity to review and comment on preliminary locations of local service roads that will provide alternative access for properties that currently have direct access onto WIS 35 between Radio Road and Coulee Trail. The long-term plans include an overpass to replace the existing at-grade intersection at WIS 35 and Glover Road. The study also includes a layout for a half interchange to and from the north only at WIS 35 and Glover Road.

The proposed alterations are the result of public comments gathered during the Highway 35 Freeway Designation process and a series of meetings with the Troy Town Board and Troy Plan Commission.

An Environmental Assessment will be conducted as part of the project to identify potential impacts of the freeway conversion. Persons with an interest in, or knowledge about, historical and archaeological resources in the project area are invited to present such information at the meeting.

This meeting will follow an informal open house format and will present preliminary roadway locations for public review and comment. A short presentation will be made at 6:30 p.m.

Project staff will be on hand to answer questions and discuss project specifics.
