Public invited to attend, provide comments

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public information meeting to discuss the feasibility of a new roadway from the intersection of WIS 54/73 (Letendre Avenue) in Port Edwards to the intersection of WIS 54/Wood County W in Wisconsin Rapids.

The meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the All Purpose Room of the McMillan Memorial Library, 490 East Grand Avenue, Wisconsin Rapids. The meeting will follow an open house format. No formal presentations are scheduled. Maps and other materials describing the study and preliminary alternatives will be on display. Interested citizens are encouraged to attend the meeting, visit with the project study team, and review the displays.

WisDOT initiated a feasibility study in cooperation with the city of Wisconsin Rapids, the village of Port Edwards, the town of Grand Rapids, and Wood County. The proposed roadway, which will require a new crossing of the Wisconsin River, would follow County Z, cross WIS 13 and proceed northeast along 20th Street.

Written comments regarding the study can be mailed to Michael O’M eara, WisDOT, 1681 Second Avenue South, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54495. Citizens who are hearing-impaired and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Michael O’Meara at least three working days prior to the meeting via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay system (dialing 711).
