September 14, 2007

Work to begin next spring.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) NE Region Office in Green Bay is announcing a public information meeting to discuss proposed plans for the Main Street improvement project in downtown Green Bay from Baird Street to the Fox River.  The meeting will take place Thursday, September 20, 2007, from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Macco Financial Group, located at 1138 Main Street.  There will be a brief presentation at 5:15 p.m. followed by an informal open house.

The meeting will focus on preliminary plans and designs.  Displays of the project will be available to view with WisDOT staff on hand to discuss the project on an individual basis.

The Main Street improvement project involves 1.2 miles of road repair, upgrading of the existing traffic signals, and including deck rehabilitation of the bridge structure crossing the East River.  Main Street will remain open to traffic during the project.

The project is tentatively scheduled to begin in mid-summer 2008 and be completed by fall.  Cost is estimated at $1.6 million.
