Public information meeting scheduled for WIS 178 project in Chippewa Falls
September 20, 2007
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public information meeting on Tuesday, October 2, from 5 until 6:30 p.m. at the Chippewa County Highway Department, located at 801 East Grand Avenue in Chippewa Falls, to discuss continued work on the WIS 178 / Seymour Cray Senior Boulevard extension.
The 2009 project involves relocating WIS 178 between County S in Chippewa Falls and 88th Street in Eagle Point. The roadway will be realigned and reconstructed from 4-lane to 2-lane transition at County S. The new roadway will include a 5-foot paved shoulder for bike and pedestrian use. Also included in the project is a roundabout intersection at County S and WIS 178 (Seymour Cray Senior Boulevard).
During construction, the portion of the project on new location will not impact traffic. During roundabout construction, traffic on both County S and WIS 178 will be on a temporary bypass, avoiding the new roundabout to expedite construction.
The October 2, 2007, meeting will follow an informal open house format with a short presentation at 5 p.m. Project information will be presented in an effort to solicit public input. Project staff will be on hand to answer questions and discuss project specifics.
