WisDOT opening Bridge Street overpass in Wausau on Friday

September 20, 2007

Interchange ramps scheduled to open in October and November.

Crews are opening Bridge Street between Westwood Drive and 17th Avenue on Friday (September 21) morning, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. The roadway has been closed since early October 2006 and is part of the reconstruction of the US 51/WIS 29 freeway.

In addition to sidewalks and on-street bicycle accommodations in both directions, the newly constructed roadway has four lanes with full-length, left-turn lanes and signalized intersections at the US 51 interchange ramps.

The Bridge Street ramps to and from southbound US 51 are closed until mid-October 2007. The ramps to and from northbound US 51 are closed until November 2007.
