WIS 95 public information meeting scheduled in Arcadia

September 26, 2007

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public information meeting on Wednesday, October 17, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Commons of Arcadia High School, located at 756 Raider Drive in Arcadia, to discuss the proposed WIS 95 / County J reconstruction project in the City of Arcadia.

The proposed project involves realigning a 2-block segment of Washington Street to create a new intersection with Main Street.  The new intersection is proposed to be located half a block to the east, at Van Buren. The purpose of the project is to address safety issues and ease traffic problems that have developed as a result of high traffic volumes, poor intersection visibility, and the large number of long trucks that use County  J and WIS 95 (Washington & Main Streets) each day on their routes into and out of Arcadia.

The $2 million project is scheduled for 2010 construction.  Federal transportation funds will pay for a major portion of the highway costs.

The meeting will follow an informal open house format with a short presentation at 6:00 p.m. followed by a question and answer period.  Concepts for the project will be on display in an effort to solicit public input.  WisDOT engineers and staff will be on hand to answer questions and discuss project features and impacts.

For information about the project or the public information meeting, contact WisDOT’s Project Manager, Ross Johnson, at (715) 836-2069.

The meeting site is handicapped accessible. Hearing impaired individuals may request special accommodations by calling Wisconsin Telecommunication Relay System (TTY) at 1-800-947-3529.
