Governor Doyle approves $400,000 project at Lawrence Timmerman Airport
September 26, 2007
Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $400,000 project to repair cracks and sealcoat runways and taxiways at Milwaukee County’s Lawrence J. Timmerman Airport. The Governor’s action releases $10,000 in state funds to help complete the project. Milwaukee County is also contributing $10,000 with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) providing $380,000.
According to Wendy Hottenstein, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project will prevent intrusion of water and debris into the cracks and help extend the life of the pavements.
The project is scheduled to be completed by October 2007.
Facilities at Lawrence J. Timmerman Airport include two paved runways measuring 4,106 feet and 3,202 feet, along with two turf airstrips that together accommodate approximately 80,000 take-offs and landings each year. Last year, Governor Doyle approved a $400,000 project to enhance security at the airport.
