REMINDER Traffic alert: Zoo Interchange connector ramp closure scheduled tomorrow
October 16, 2007
Three-week closure will repair bridge deck.
Work is scheduled to begin tomorrow, Oct. 17 on a repair and maintenance project on the US 45 southbound to I-94 eastbound connector ramp in the Zoo Interchange, announced the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT).
“Inspections indicate that a deck overlay replacement is needed on the connector ramp,” said Jason Lynch, project manager with WisDOT. “The project is designed to minimize future maintenance and traveler inconvenience.”
The repairs are designed to last until the interchange can be reconstructed in 2012,” indicated WisDOT Secretary Frank Busalacchi. “Governor Jim Doyle advanced the reconstruction project because he recognizes the need for long-term improvements to the Zoo Interchange to support economic development and mobility in the region.”
The US 45 southbound to I-94 eastbound connector ramp will be closed for about three weeks starting Oct. 17. A posted detour route will direct southbound traffic going east on I-94 south on I-894 to Lincoln Avenue, back north on I-894 and onto east I-94. Other alternative local routes are unsigned and are available for local traffic.
“Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes and expect delays,” noted Lynch. “We appreciate the patience of the public during this three-week closure. It is imperative to close the ramp in order to ensure the safety of the construction workers and expedite the project.
