Public information meeting scheduled for WIS 124/Business 29 project
October 18, 2007
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public information meeting on Thursday, November 8, 2007 from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m. at the Chippewa County Highway Department, located at 801 East Grand Avenue in Chippewa Falls, to discuss work on the WIS 124 & Business 29 Interchange in Chippewa Falls.
The 2009 project will involve the removal of the existing interchange of WIS 124 & Business 29 and construction of an at-grade intersection with a roundabout being the proposed intersection type. Also involved in the project is the construction of a shared-use bike and pedestrian path which will include an underpass of WIS 124 near Wisconsin Street and construction of turn lanes along Business 29 near Alexander Street to accommodate a new/future public intersection.
During construction, traffic on both WIS 124 and Business 29 will be maintained to allow at least one lane open in each direction. During intersection construction, traffic on Business 29 is planned to be diverted along a temporary roadway to Chippewa Mall Drive, avoiding the proposed roundabout to expedite construction.
The November 8, 2007 meeting will follow an informal open house format with a short presentation at 5:00 p.m. Project information will be presented in an effort to solicit public input. Project staff will be on hand to answer questions and discuss project specifics.
