Public information meeting scheduled to begin US 53 Corridor Preservation Study

October 30, 2007

US 53 Corridor Preservation Study for Minong area.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public information meeting to introduce and provide information on the US 53 Corridor Preservation Study in the Minong area.

The meeting will be held Thursday, November 8, 2007 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Minong Village Hall located at 123 5th Avenue in the Village of Minong.

Members of the public will be able to review exhibits of existing conditions and provide input on transportation and other issues relating to US 53 and the study. Study staff will be present at the Village Hall from 5 to 7 p.m. as an open house meeting.  A short presentation regarding the study will be made at 5:30 p.m.

The study limits extend from just north of Schangl Road near Lampson to just south of Gordon.

The study is one of several the WisDOT is conducting along Highway 53 between Rice Lake and Superior that will investigate a long-term vision for the corridor that will be preserved through officially mapping the right-of-way needed for an expressway update.  Improvements needed as part of the expressway update could include interchanges, overpasses, cul-de-sacs and development of a local transportation network to safely balance the access and mobility of the area.

For information about the project or the public information meeting, contact WisDOT’s Project Manager, Marc Bowker at (715) 635-4375.  Written comments may be submitted to SRF Consulting Group, Inc., One Carlson Parkway North Suite 150, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55447-4443.
