I-94 traffic impacts tonight and tomorrow night
October 30, 2007
Motorists can expect mild delays on I-94 in the Menomonie area today (October 30) and tomorrow (October 31).
Traffic using the I-94 Red Cedar River Bridges will be restricted to one lane in each direction through 4 p.m. today while crews install stress gauges on the bridges.
Tonight between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m., State Patrol will be assist in slowing eastbound I-94 traffic between Knapp and County B to 30 mph while crews complete load testing and calibration of the gauges. Tomorrow night, westbound traffic will be slowed to 30 mph. WIS 25 ramps will experience intermittent closures during this time.
Stress gauges are being installed on the bridges as part of additional precautionary measures being made on deck truss bridges throughout the state. The instruments directly feed information back to WisDOT via wireless technology as to how the bridge is performing. Any unexpected movement would be investigated immediately.
