Public meeting scheduled for I-43 in Waukesha County

November 5, 2007

Meeting to focus on preliminary designs for rehabilitation and structural improvements.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) Southeast Regional Office in Waukesha is announcing a public information meeting to discuss proposed improvements to I-43 from WIS 83 to County O and the I-43 and WIS 164 interchange in Waukesha County.  The meeting is scheduled from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the Big Bend/Town of Vernon Fire Department, W233 S7475 Woodland Lane, Big Bend.

Proposed rehabilitation measures along I-43 will include an asphalt overlay of the underlying concrete pavement between WIS 83 and WIS 164 and a resurface of the asphalt overlay between WIS 164 and County O.  The project will include widening and replacing the decks of several structures along the corridor.  The bridges over WIS 164 will be completely reconstructed.  WIS 164 will be reconstructed from Woodland Lane to County ES.  The I-43 ramp terminal intersections at WIS 164 will be improved with new traffic signals or roundabouts.  Construction is tentatively scheduled for 2009 and 2010.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input, and ask questions concerning this project.  Maps showing the proposed improvement alternatives will be on display.  WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.
