Governor Doyle approves $218,198 project at New Holstein Municipal Airport
November 6, 2007
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $218,198 project to rehabilitate pavements and design a terminal area expansion project at the New Holstein Municipal Airport. The Governor's action releases $5,455 in state funds to crack-seal, slurry seal and remark their runway and taxiways, and to design the next expansion areas for hangar construction.
The City of New Holstein is contributing another $5,456 for the project and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $207,287.
According to Gayle Stearn, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project will extend the life of the runway and taxiways by sealing out water, which can quickly deteriorate pavements. The new seal coat work should add another eight years of pavement life, thus delaying expensive reconstruction costs. The design of the next phase of hangar development is planned to be bid this winter for construction in 2008.
The project is scheduled to be completed by December 2007.
The New Holstein Municipal Airport is located on the west side of the city and includes two runways, one paved and one turf.
