Governor Doyle approves $28,000 project at Neillsville Municipal Airport
November 8, 2007
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $28,000 project begin engineering work design a snow removal equipment building at the Neillsville Municipal Airport. The Governor's action releases $700 in state funds to help purchase the equipment. The city of Neillsville is contributing $700, and the Federal Aviation Administration will provide the remaining $26,600.
According to Michael Gabor, engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project will provide a bidding package for the much needed storage building at the airport.
The design work is scheduled to begin in October 2007 and should be completed by spring 2008, when bidding for construction is expected to take place.
The Neillsville Municipal Airport consists of one paved runway, 3,400 feet in length. The airport is located in a high snowfall area and has frequent need to deal with snow removal in winter months. Current storage facilities are not adequate to house the recently updated snow removal equipment.
