Governor approves $50,000 project at Solon Springs Municipal Airport
November 8, 2007
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $50,000 project to develop an airport layout plan at the Solon Springs Municipal Airport. The Governor's action releases $1,250 in state funds for the project. The Solon Springs -- Gordon Airport Commission is also contributing another $1,250, and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $45,500.
According to Craig Butler, project manager with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the airport layout plan will provide a plan for improvements at the airport for the next 20 years. The project is scheduled to begin before the end of 2007 and should be completed by April 2008.
Facilities at the Solon Springs Municipal Airport include a 3,100-foot paved runway. The airport accommodates some 3,000 aircraft operations (take-offs and landings) each year.
