Public information meeting scheduled for WIS 50 project in Kenosha County

November 16, 2007

A public information meeting is scheduled to discuss improvements to the WIS 50 and County B intersection in Kenosha County, announced the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). The meeting is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at Westosha Central High School, 24671 75th Street, Salem.

The purpose of this meeting is to develop alternatives that will help eliminate hazards and increase safety at the intersection. “The proposed improvements include adding left-turn lanes on County B, improving visibility for left-turns on WIS 50 and widening right-turn lanes on WIS 50,” said Jeff Bohen, WisDOT project manager. “In addition, traffic signals and lighting will be installed,” Bohen added. Construction is currently scheduled to begin mid-summer 2009.

The meeting will be an "open-house" format. The community is encouraged to attend anytime from 5 to 8 p.m. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.

Westosha Central High School is wheelchair accessible. Hearing-impaired citizens may request an interpreter by contacting Jeff Guenette at (262) 548-8663 or via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay system (1-800-WI-RELAY).
