Two public meetings scheduled for US 41 Brown County expansion

Each meeting focusing on different project segment.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Regional Office in Green Bay is announcing two public information meetings to obtain public comment on preliminary design plans for reconstructing US 41 and its interchanges from Scheuring Road to County M (Lineville Road) in Brown County. The meetings are scheduled for Tuesday, November 27 and Wednesday, November 28.
The Tuesday meeting is being held at Green Bay Southwest High School, 1331 Packerland Drive, Green Bay, beginning at 6 p.m. and concluding by 8 p.m. A short presentation will be given at 6:15 p.m. This meeting addresses the northern half of the US 41 Capacity Expansion Project from Lombardi Avenue to County M (Lineville Road).
The Wednesday meeting is being held at Ashwaubenon Pioneer Elementary School, 1360 Ponderosa Avenue, Ashwaubenon, beginning at 5 p.m. and concluding by 7:30 p.m. A short presentation will be given at 5:45 p.m. This meeting addresses the southern half of the US 41 Capacity Expansion project from Scheuring Road to Lombardi Avenue.
Please note: Each meeting has a different start time, different location and provides information specific to either the northern or southern section of the project. Citizens wanting to learn about the entire project will need to attend both meetings.
As a convenience to the public, the meetings are held as an open house. Preliminary plans,
location maps and other exhibits will be displayed. The open house format allows citizens to
visit at a convenient time and meet individually with WisDOT staff, ask questions and provide
comments.
Persons with a concern for or knowledge about historical buildings and structures and archeological sites are encouraged to attend these open houses and share their information with WisDOT staff.
Proposed improvements include:
- Reconstruction of US 41 to add capacity by adding lanes to both the median and outside of the roadway. There will be three to five lanes in each direction, depending on where that segment of freeway is located.
- Reconstructing seven local service interchanges to improve the traffic operations and safety at the ramp intersections.
- Reconstructing the US 41/I 43 interchange improve traffic operations and safety.
- Construction of a new interchange at US 41/WIS 29 to improve traffic operations and safety.
- Construction of a new local service interchange at WIS 29 and County EB (Packerland Drive/Cardinal Lane) to improve traffic operations and safety.
- Construction of noise walls between WIS 172 and WIS 54.
Total project cost is estimated at $470 million (FY2007$). Construction is scheduled to begin in Fall 2010 and be completed by Fall 2015.
