Merrimac Ferry closed for season

The Colsac III, the Merrimac ferry across the Wisconsin River between Sauk and Columbia counties, has closed for the winter due to ice on the river.

In season, the free ferry shuttles WIS 113 traffic 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, between Okee on the east bank and Merrimac on the west. The craft holds 15 vehicles at a time, in addition to bicycles and pedestrians.

The Colsac III opened for the season March 28, 2007.
