Governor Doyle Approves $126,500 Project at Lancaster Municipal Airport
January 14, 2008
Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $126,512 project to update the airport layout plan and conduct a feasibility study at the Lancaster Municipal Airport. The Governor's action releases $4,052 in state funds for the project and the city of Lancaster is contributing another $4,052. The Federal Aviation Administration is providing $118,408.
According to David Montesinos, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the airport layout plan has already been completed. The feasibility study will determine the environmental and economic impacts of realigning the current runway.
The project is now underway and should be completed by spring of 2008.
Lancaster Municipal Airport has one 3,850-foot asphalt runway located approximately 400 feet east and parallel to USH 61. There are nine single-engine aircraft based at the airport and approximately 7,100 take-offs and landings occur there each year.
