Governor Doyle Approves $900,000 project at Dane County Regional Airport

Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $900,000 project for design work on future construction at the Dane County Regional Airport, in Madison. The Governor's action releases $22,500 in state funds for the project, while Dane County is contributing $22,500, and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $855,000
According to David Montesinos, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project involves design work for a west apron expansion, a glycol storage system, and a storm water management plan.
The project is scheduled to be completed by spring 2008.
Dane County Airport consists of three paved runways, parallel taxiways, aircraft parking aprons and ramps, terminal building, and FAA control tower. Currently, 11 airline companies serve the airport. In 2005, more than 808,000 people flew out of Dane County Airport and cargo transported totaled 12,260,000 pounds.
