Governor Doyle Approves $150,000 Project at Austin Straubel International Airport

January 15, 2008

Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $150,000 project to design and relocate snow removal equipment facilities at the Austin Straubel International Airport, in Green Bay. The Governor's action releases $120,000 in state funds for the project and Brown County is contributing another $30,000.

According to Matt Malicki, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the funds are to design a new snow removal equipment facility that will replace the existing one.

The project is scheduled to begin in spring 2008 and should be completed by fall 2008.

Austin Straubel International Airport is located southwest of the city of Green Bay. It is a primary service air carrier airport, with two concrete runways, 7,700 feet and 8,200 feet in length. The airport has a modern terminal building providing passenger services to the traveling public. There are 115 aircraft based at the airport, and approximately 70,500 take-offs and landings occur each year.
