Governor Doyle Approves $420,000 Project at Outagamie County Airport

Governor Jim Doyle has approved $420,000 for projects to improve safety and security at the Outagamie County Regional Airport, in Appleton. The Governor's action releases $336,000 in state funds for the project and Outagamie County is contributing an additional $84,000.
According to Andrew Trimble, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project involves designing a closed circuit television security system, developing a glycol management plan, and designing an expansion for the terminal apron.
Managing the airport's glycol deicing of aircraft environmentally conscientious manner will reduce potential contamination of surface water. Expanding the air carrier terminal apron will allow aircraft to taxi freely around the west end of the terminal building will still allowing sufficient room for aircraft parking at the gate nearest the main terminal building.
The project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2008.
The Outagamie County Regional Airport is home to 51 single-engine, 17 multi-engine and 4 jet aircraft, and is served by four airlines. All together, there are over 57,000 take-offs and landings at the airport each year.
