US 151 improvements to be discussed at January 24 information meeting

January 16, 2008

Planned enhancements for two separate projects on US 151 adjacent to Beaver Dam in Dodge County will be discussed at a Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) information meeting on Thursday, January 24, 2008. The meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 205 S. Lincoln Avenue, Beaver Dam. The meeting will be held in an open house-type format. A short presentation will be made at 7 p.m.

One project is located on US 151 with limits beginning just south of the Union Pacific Railroad, proceeding north and ending at Hemlock Road. An asphalt overlay will be installed on the southbound lanes and portions of the northbound lanes, between the railroad and the Prospect Avenue crossing. The project will also be installing median cable guard throughout the project limits. This work is scheduled for construction in the late summer or fall of 2008.

The second project is located on US 151 with limits beginning just south of the Union Pacific Railroad, proceeding north and ending near the Prospect Avenue crossing. The project will consist of pavement replacement on the southbound lanes, eliminating the northbound left hand off ramp to County D and replacing it with a full diamond interchange, new profile adjustments at WIS 33 and Prospect Avenue, and new bridges at County D, County W, WIS 33, and Prospect Avenue. The work is currently scheduled for 2012.

A variety of exhibits and maps will be featured at the information meeting and representatives from WisDOT will be available to discuss the project and to answer questions. The public is encouraged to attend to examine the proposed improvements and discuss any concerns they might have.
