US 14 Corridor Study to be discussed at January 23 public information meeting
January 16, 2008
A study of US 14 in Richland, Sauk, Iowa and Dane Counties will be subject of an upcoming public information meeting, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southwest Region. The meeting is scheduled for January 23, 2008, at the Mazomanie Community Building, 9 Broadhead Street, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Public input is being sought to identify areas where there are present and future concerns regarding safety or delay in traffic flow.
Representatives from WisDOT will be available to individually discuss and document comments or concerns regarding this transportation corridor. The input collected will be utilized to identify and prioritize segments for study and traffic operations analysis. A second meeting will be held in June/July 2008 to discuss the results of the study.
US 14 is a two-lane, predominantly rural roadway with at-grade intersections. Growing traffic volumes and land development are driving the need to consider long-range alternatives for the corridor to ensure a safe and efficient roadway that can function with the existing cross sections as long as possible.
WisDOT has contracted with Knight E/A, Inc. to conduct a study to develop a long-term plan for access along this corridor.
