State reprimands local man for odometer fraud

January 24, 2008

In an effort to maintain his motor vehicle buyer license and buyer identification card, Michael J. Parpart agrees to follow better business practices. Mr. Parpart, 5510 Chestnut Lane, McFarland, acknowledged that he knowingly made false statements on an odometer reading and to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, both in violation of state law. He consented to a six-calendar day suspension of his motor vehicle buyer license and buyer identification card that began on January 11, 2008.

The agreement is part of a Special Order and Order Suspending License issued by David Schwarz, administrator of the state Department of Administration's Division of Hearings and Appeals. The action came as the result of an investigation by the WisDOT Division of Motor Vehicles Dealer and Agent Section. Violation of a special order is grounds for denial, suspension, or revocation of a representative license.
