Exam to be held on April 5 & 6 for individuals interested in becoming a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper or inspector

Motivated men and women interested in an exciting and fulfilling career in law enforcement as a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper or commercial motor vehicle inspector are invited to take an examination at the State Patrol Academy at Fort McCoy on either Saturday, April 5, or Sunday, April 6. The deadline for registering for the examination is March 26.
To register for the examination, applicants must complete an on-line questionnaire and indicate the testing date and time they prefer. To complete this questionnaire, applicants should:
- Log onto the Wiscjobs web site at wiscjobs.state.wi.us. After logging in and viewing the State Trooper and Inspector Job Announcement (08-00191), click "Apply Now." Applicants will be asked to provide personal information and then complete the on-line questionnaire
- Or call toll-free 1-877-205-7739 or (608) 267-4593 and request the questionnaire.
After completing the questionnaire, applicants will receive information on what to expect the day of the exam. They also will be directed to an application and release form, which must be downloaded and brought to the exam. Applicants also must bring an official copy of high school and college transcripts and two to four letters of recommendation. Veterans must bring a copy of their DD-214 discharge form.
This recruitment will be used to fill approximately 20 to 25 trooper and inspector vacancies throughout the state. Successful candidates will receive a salary plus meals and lodging while training at the State Patrol Academy beginning July 20, 2008.
Recruits who successfully complete the rigorous 21-weeks of training will be sworn in as either troopers or inspectors when they graduate. The starting annual salary for a trooper or inspector is $38,195 along with excellent state employee health insurance, retirement and other benefits.
