McCleary Bridge closure canceled
February 6, 2008
Girder removal completed ahead of schedule
Crews completed removal of four bridge girders earlier than expected today (February 5) and will
not have to close the bridge tomorrow (February 6) according to the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation.
The bridge reopened to one lane of traffic in each direction this afternoon. The speed
limit is reduced to 25 mph and each lane is restricted to 10 feet.
Now that the bridge girders have been removed, crews will begin the removal of the east half of pier number one. After that process is complete, they will begin reconstruction of the footing.
