March 4, 2008
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $300,000 project to design landside improvements at the Austin Straubel International Airport, in Green Bay. The Governor's action releases $172,800 in state funds to design a terminal access road and utilities relocation, a new employee parking area, and the relocation of the parking exit plaza. Brown County is contributing $127,200 to the project.
According to Matt Malicki, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project will improve landside operations and will allow for future expansion of parking facilities and terminal improvements. Vehicle traffic flow through the terminal area will be improved as well.
The project is scheduled to begin in spring 2008 and should be completed by fall 2008.
