Governor Doyle approves $210,526 project at Lancaster Municipal Airport

March 4, 2008

Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $210,526 project to modify the fuel facility at the Lancaster Municipal Airport. The Governor's action releases $5,263 in state funds for the project and the city of Lancaster is contributing another $5,263 and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $200,000.

According to David Montesinos, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project will modify the existing fuel facility to include a card reader, two fuel pumps and fencing. The project will increase fuel revenues at the airport by allowing pilots to purchase fuel any time with the new credit card reader.

The project is scheduled to begin in February 2008 and should be completed by June 2008.

Lancaster Municipal Airport has one 3,850-foot asphalt runway located approximately 400 feet east and parallel to USH 61. There are nine single-engine aircraft based at the airport and approximately 7,100 take-offs and landings occur there each year.
