Governor approves $63,263 project at Ephraim-Fish Creek Airport
March 4, 2008
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $63,263 project to install a fueling system at the Ephraim-Fish Creek Airport in Door County. The Governor's action releases $1,581 in state funds to design and construct a fueling system. The Village of Ephraim and the Town of Gibralter are contributing another $1,582, with the Federal Aviation Administration providing $60,100.
According to David E. Montesinos, airport development engineer with the state Department of Transportation, the project will not only bring the fueling system up to date and up to code, but also provide the customer with a card reading option to enable 24-hour fuel sales.
The project is scheduled to begin in April 2008 and should be completed by December 2008.
Facilities at the Ephraim-Fish Creek Airport include a 2,700-foot paved runway and a 1,980-foot turf airstrip. There are 17 aircraft based at the airport and approximately 9,000 aircraft take-offs and landings each year.
