Governor Doyle approves $391,729 project at Langlade County Airport
March 4, 2008
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $391,729 project to design site preparation and build a new T-hangar at the Langlade County Airport, near Antigo. The governor's action releases $1,907 in state funds. Langlade County is contributing another $74,854 and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $314,968.
According to Terry Ripp, Airport Engineering Specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project will spur economic growth because the airport has no more hangars available to lease, and the new T-hangar site will enable continuous growth at the airport. Lease revenues will go to the county to help cover the cost of airport operation, making the airport more self-supporting.
The project should be completed by spring of 2008.
The airport's 4,000-foot primary runway and 3,400-foot secondary runway handle over 8,000 aircraft take-offs and landings each year.
