Public meeting scheduled for March 10 on WIS 32 project in Ozaukee County
March 5, 2008
Work tentatively scheduled to begin in mid-March
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) announced that a public information meeting is scheduled to discuss the reconstruction of WIS 32 in Ozaukee County. The meeting will be held on March 10 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Port Washington City Hall located at 100 W. Grand Avenue, Port Washington.
The meeting will have an open house format. No formal presentation will be given. Displays will be available for review, and information on the construction schedule, construction staging and access to properties will be provided. The project team will be available to listen to comments and answer questions.
Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in mid-March on this $5.5 million contract to improve WIS 32 from Grand Avenue to I-43. The purpose of this project is to enhance safety and reduce the number of motor vehicle accidents. “The new roadway will provide a smoother riding surface and designated turn lanes, minimizing the potential for accidents with parked and turning vehicles,” said Gary Metzer, project manager with WisDOT.
WIS 32 will be closed to through traffic from Grand Avenue to Beutel Road. Motorists will be detoured via WIS 33 and I-43. Access from Beutel Road to County LL will be maintained.
The contractor, Zignego Company, Inc., is scheduled to complete the project by the end of November 2008, weather permitting.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information on this project, contact Gary Metzer at (262) 548-5685. Written comments regarding the project can be mailed to Gary Metzer, WisDOT Southeast Region, 141 N.W. Barstow Street, P.O. Box 798, Waukesha, WI 53187-0798.
