US 51/WIS 29 lane and ramp closures scheduled next week
March 17, 2008
Closures will continue for several weeks, including weekends
Beginning March 24, crews plan the following:
- Northbound and southbound US 51 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between County NN and WIS 52.
- Eastbound and westbound WIS 29 will be detoured via County R and County NN.
- The WIS 52 on ramp to southbound US 51 will be closed and detoured via County R and County NN.
- The County NN on ramp to northbound US 51 will be closed and detoured via County R and WIS 52.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes or be prepared for potentially significant
traffic backups or delays.
The closures, which are scheduled for completion on April 19, are necessary for construction
of the new WIS 29 west bridge over US 51 in Wausau, near the Sherman Street interchange. Schedules
are subject to change due to weather or construction status.
