WisDOT conducting public information meeting October 29 for the US 51 reconstruction in Iron County

Meeting to focus on preliminary design proposal for US 51 reconstruction
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public information meeting to discuss preliminary design concepts for the reconstruction of US 51 in the town of Mercer, Iron County.
The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at the Mercer Community Center, 2648W Margaret Street, Mercer, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. A brief presentation is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. Maps and exhibits of the planned improvement alternatives will be on display. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions. WisDOT staff will be available to to discuss the project on an individual basis and answer questions.
The proposed project will reconstruct US 51 from approximately 900 feet south of Beachway Drive
to 400 feet north of County Road J to improve pavement and storm water drainage. Right-of-way
acquisition will be required. Construction is currently scheduled for 2011.
