Public information meeting scheduled on March 27 for 151 bypass

March 24, 2008

Citizen input will help determine location for overpasses and interchanges

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is announcing a public information meeting has been scheduled for the US 151 bypass corridor preservation project on Thursday, March 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. It is being held in the UW-Fond du Lac large group instruction room at the University Center, 400 University Drive, Fond du Lac. A short presentation is scheduled for 6:10 p.m.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, learn more about the corridor preservation project and provide input. Displays will be available for review and the public can meet with WisDOT representatives to discuss the project and ask questions on an individual basis.

This corridor study will determine the future locations of interchanges and overpasses along the bypass. Though the study is following the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process, WisDOT has significantly expedited this study concerning the US 151 bypass. The department’s goal is to identify a preferred alternative by Summer 2008.  Another six to 12 months of study will be needed regarding the preferred alternative to produce the environmental document and right-of-way preservation map, allowing WisDOT to acquire right-of-way and move ahead on the future freeway expansion as funding becomes available. Members of the public interested in the project, but unable to attend the meeting or wanting more information should please contact WisDOT project manager Paul Vraney at (920) 492-5999 or  paul.vraney@dot.state.wi.us.

UW-Fond du Lac is a handicapped accessible facility.
