US 18 and County JJ project scheduled to start the week of March 31 in Waukesha County
March 26, 2008
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) announced that work is scheduled to
begin the week of March 31 on a $7.5 million contract to rehabilitate the US 18 and County JJ
bridges over I-94 in Waukesha County.
“This project will greatly improve safety at both locations by replacing the existing bridge
decks, raising the height of the structures, and constructing wider shoulders,” said Chris
Zacharias, WisDOT Project Manager.
Traffic will be reduced to two lanes in each direction on US 18 and one lane in each direction on County JJ during construction. In addition, traffic on I-94 will be reduced to one lane in each direction during nighttime hours. Ramp and full freeway closures will also occur during nighttime hours.
The contractor, Zenith Tech, is scheduled to complete work by late October, weather permitting.
A combination of federal and state funds will pay for the project.
