Governor approves $30,000 project at Mauston - New Lisbon Union Airport
March 27, 2008
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $30,000 project to acquire land at the Mauston - New Lisbon Union
Airport. The Governor's action releases $750 in state funds for the purchase and the cities of
Mauston and New Lisbon are contributing another $750. The Federal Aviation Administration is
providing $28,500.
According to David E. Montesinos, airport development engineer with the state Department of
Transportation, the land acquisition will secure the runway approach on Runway 14, which will
enhance safety.
The project has already begun and should be completed by the spring of 2008.
The Mauston - New Lisbon Union Airport is located about three miles northwest of Mauston, in
Juneau County. The airport has two runways - a 3,400-foot asphalt runway and a 1,060-foot turf
strip.
