Governor Doyle approves $80,000 project at La Crosse Municipal Airport
March 27, 2008
Governor Jim Doyle has approved an $80,000 project to complete design engineering for a new hangar
site and reconstruction of several hangar taxiways at the La Crosse Municipal Airport. The
Governor's action releases $64,000 in state funds to help complete the project and the city of La
Crosse is contributing the remaining $16,000.
According to Wendy Hottenstein, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation, the project will provide an additional hangar site to accommodate the many users on
the waiting list for a location to house their aircraft. Also, the project will prepare plans and
specifications to reconstruct several hangar taxiways that were built in the 1960s and 1970s and
are in very poor condition.
Construction is planned for the summer of 2008.
La Crosse Municipal Airport has three runways that accommodate approximately 50,000 take-offs
and landings annually.
