Governor Jim Doyle approves WIS 13 improvements

April 10, 2008

As part of his “Grow Wisconsin” initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle recently signed a $2.7 million contract to improve 3.35 miles of WIS 13 between Adams County O and County D.

Construction is scheduled to begin on April 21, 2008.

American Asphalt of Mosinee is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will resurface County O to Kings Way and widen the section between Kings Way and County D section to provide for a median and turning lanes. The improvements will provide a smoother driving surface and improved intersections that meet current design standards.

Construction is scheduled for completion by October 2008, according to Jeff Stewart, WisDOT Project Manager.

The project will be constructed in stages to maintain traffic on WIS 13. Crews will temporarily widen the roadway to allow for counter directional traffic during construction.

Eighty percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds; the remaining 20 percent will be paid with state transportation funds. The project also includes some local funding.
